The human side of publishing: young researchers in conversation with editors

Twelve early-career researchers from across Europe recently came together with editors from Chemistry Europe journals for a two-day event entirely dedicated to scientific publishing and communication.

The Chemistry Europe Early Career Researchers Meeting took place at the Wiley-VCH offices in Weinheim (Germany). During the meeting, participants discussed current trends and challenges in academic publishing. They also shared their own experiences and practical tips. The programme consisted of lectures and interactive workshops on topics including society publishing, peer review, scientific writing, open science, artificial intelligence and strategies for better communicating and promoting research. In addition, there was ample opportunity for networking during informal breaks and a joint social evening.

The aim of the meeting was to bring young chemists into contact with editors of the journals published by Chemistry Europe and ChemistryViews, the organisation’s science magazine.

Ivana Lin, a KNCV member and participant in the NextGenChem Summit, was also present at the meeting!
