About ChiBS
Learn it. Apply it. Experience it.
ChiBS is not your typical summer school. Instead of simply listening to lectures, you will become an active participant in a realistic business challenge.
You will join a team of six participants and take on the role of a management team within a chemical company. Guided by an experienced coach, your team will explore a business case inspired by challenges faced by companies in the chemical industry.
Throughout the programme, you will attend interactive sessions led by industry professionals and immediately apply what you learn to your team's business case. Your challenge? Analyse the situation, consider different perspectives, weigh opportunities and risks, and develop well-founded recommendations.
On the final day, your team will present its conclusions to a board of industry representatives. There is no single perfect answer. What matters most is how you work together, approach complex challenges and explain the decisions you make.
Real challenges. Real decisions.
What kind of business challenges might you face during ChiBS?
Imagine being part of a management team confronted with one of these situations:
-From innovation to market: Your company has developed a promising new technology. Which market should you enter first, and how will you convince customers?
-Scaling up production: Demand is growing. Should your company invest in its own production facilities or collaborate with an industrial partner?
-Making sustainability profitable: Your innovative sustainable product is more expensive than conventional alternatives. How do you build a commercially viable business model?
-Dealing with unexpected challenges: A critical raw material suddenly becomes more expensive and harder to obtain. How will you respond without losing your customers?
These are examples of the strategic dilemmas you may explore. The actual business cases will be selected for the programme.
